If you take a good splash rooster and cross them with the black hens you will get all blue chicks.

Went down to minus -2 last nite. Brought in a few of the birds and took pics to compare with.
I think there maybe some interesting options for breeding this year.
This is the Blue I like. And plan on taking him to these couple of pullets. Never know what to expect.

Since he is so lite a color and not well defined lacing, I am going by the book and take him to only Blacks this year.

He had been treated for leg mites with vasoline. Not working. I treated him again with ivermectin, so far so good no signs of it. Even if he didn't have anything I would still isolate him or any other bird that wasn't hatched on my property just as a precaution. You can't be to carefull.

Thank you. The stalls 12x12 so he has plenty of room. The hens free range and they can see each other between the boards of the barn. He's real shy cause the flock he was in had a alpha EE roo that beat up on him every chance he got. Thats why he was rehomed. I can't get to close to him duiring the day but I try to spend time in his stall every day plus he gets treats that the rest of the flock does. To treat his legs my son got him off his perch at night and I did the dirty deed. He was quite calm and seemed to enjoy the warm water. Hope to let him free range with the rest of the girls soon.
