Question...how are the lemon cuckoos bred? I'm very new to Orps and just love that color.
Thanks

Im looking for good close to show qaulity Orps of any color, I have some hatchery Buffs and absolutely love their personality. I've had tons of different kinds of chickens but none have endeared theirselves to me like the Orps. Does anybody have any eggs or birds for sale? I'm located in Kentucky but I will be traveling to the crossroads show in October.

Where in KY are you? I'm in Lexington and new to Orpingtons too. My hen hatched out a couple of buff bantam Orp eggs from HenThymes, and I got 2 cockerels and a pullet. Other than the fact I would have liked more pullets

I was very happy with everything. She's going to Crossroads - look her up!

I like Buffs. Their one of the toughest varieties to have because the color seems to fade. Keep them out of the direct sunlite and they look nice enough to go to a show and enjoy the fun. I have my better one in under some pine trees and cedar trees out behind my pole barn. And another pen I have under some Oaks and Walnut trees. Hard to say with out seeing the body of the male, but the girl looks like she is very nice.

Here is the full body pic of my buff girl:

I have only had chickens for a year, and only had Orpingtons for a couple of weeks, so.......

That IS a beautiful bird, but I would have taken it for a rooster. The comb and wattles are huge. I don't see hackles or saddle feathers though, so someone please educate me on this breed.

Thanks Renie!! I'm really liking this pullet. She's got a big bowling ball shape and a thick head. She definitely has some filling in to do but I'm debating on showing her and your boy Brutus I bought this fall. I really want to hear feedback from the judge
