Can't wait till spring when they are in full swing and full body type. I'm planning on bringing them to the local shows. I have one pullet that is the sweetest thing ever! She is always following me around and soo curious all the time. I think she would do very well at the show

they sure are HINKJC birds.. classic beautiful big birds...wonderful shape ....and your welcome Jody..We will get out and show for you!! I LOVE it!
used to show horses in dressage ring but doctor said cant do that anymore ..so had to find a replacement for that. ..it has been a huge part of my life for so long, I didnt know what I was going to do..Let me tell you how much easier it is to haul around a few chickens than getting hours of prep that I miss so much like braiding and taping manes and tails and bathing...now I get to fuss over Chickens..they get the life of riley out of it..and I dont even have to hook up the horse trailer, just throw down the back seats in the hatchback and put the travel gear back there so they can have AC too...so much easier.. plus get to the show throw them in the cage little water and feed but only a little till after judging ...then pack them and go home.. the perfect replacement for me..

Hey Jeremy!! Havnt talked to you in quite a while...do you still keep the delawares as well as orps? Love to catch up with your flock and see whats new..always a great tour of really nice birds....ive been so darned busy getting ready for winter and working that I pop in for a min here and there..dont get to talk to beth much anymore either..she had some nice things going too...miss her..

Lot of people love that pullet..I cant wait to get some more..our freind steve took the other cockerals..he just loves them.. got a little bit scolded by one of the judges, he said Lynne, make sure you get those cockerals away from a hen like that when your going to show..shes a top hen, and they have grabbed he right at a comb point and broke it.. just a little peice of it but they notice every little thing...I said I know..they are healthy and thought I had a little more time..but they are in a great new home now.. I will make sure when they start getting busy next time around that they are in seperate pen...too many boys and only one girl..not a problem now, she has a whole pasture to escape in..and only one boy.

Have very slowly been sort of working through this thread. Found these very young and unfinished kids and thought they seemed awfully interesting from the APA point of view. I do thoroughly admire the European type as well. Like two different breeds. But back to these guys. Remind me of young Marcus Davidson stuff. I'm lucky enough to have had a friends who had birds direct from Mr. Davidson and have always paid a lot of attention to the buffs especially though I've owned Cecil Moore whites long, long ago. These look really promising in many ways and since I'm being impatient wondered what has been going on with this line. I too believe in the usefullness to a breed in keeping distinct lines. New blood needn't be added willy nilly but with distinct families someone has some options if needed or wanted. I rather like these particular big buff options. If something here requires a less than public response I can be reached at [email protected].

I know, I like both types too..when they are done well, either type... they are truley one of the best birds out there...going to go tour the pics here. Love to see how these mature.. lots of nice things going on .

First time ever a Brown Red Orpington was shown in n APA event. Doug's mentor Jack wants me to focus on the standards and forget these oddball varieties. He said it with a smile. Doug said this cockerel looked like an Orp, then I asked Matt L an ABA judge who I know likes the look of a Brown Red. He also agreed with Doug great Orp type and only needs a little more Orange around his hackles. Matt is the one who I trust with the look of this variety.
