Renie, Have you ever asked Marc just how many Eng. Buff Orps he has sold in the US? I haven't. I'll be sending some SOP x Eng. buff chicks back to Marc, as he lost his hens last year. Both the 100% English, and the Eng x SOP Buffs are looking so similar, that I have to mark them with magic markers coming out of the hatcher.Too quick growing to mess with bands. These English Orps match the APA 1915 Standard exactly. Why the APA changed it by 1929, I don't know. My pullets from an old SOP line, just seem to mesh with them. Pure luck, but I am so pleased. Happy hatching! Vickie

Terrible news, the primrary school hens were all killed by something, 3 with head ripped off, two pulled under the fence and one missing, so sad the poor babies :(, i went over to look before and there was loads of feathers and the bodies burning away.

Johnn,What a shame! I am so sorry. Are yours still safe? It sounds like a fox, or a stout to me, so be careful.Vickie
My girls arent safe, last year Miley was killed by a stoat but the others hid/got away, she was killed in October so i am quite scared!!

Is there no way you can put up some wire, and keep them safe at night?
she was killed through the day and no it would be impossible to cover every place something could get in, i would rather they had acres to hide on with wood to hide in and go in trees, than metres of open grass to hide in :/
