Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Akers cockerels coming along. Hatched 4 of the 9 eggs. 3 are cockerels, the 3rd cockerel will need to be culled. I am so low on good Buff pullets, I plan on using their sister who is undersize. But overall a nice type Buff Orp.
The big boy on the rite is the first Orp in a long time which even remotely has the size head I am looking for in an Orp. He will see my best Buff pullet I hatched from this season, a Buff Sport hen, and prolly a pair of my medium or 4 or 5 in quality White pullets.
Doug is a great guy for our hobby. He charges very reasonable prices at the shows I have been too. Very hard to find too many better Buff breeders who will let go any of their better stock.

These 4 were an early June hatch. 5 to 6 month olds

How is this guy looking? He's the only one I have out all the chicks I got. I am very happy with my ladies. Is he something decent to work with until I work towards finding a better guy?

He is about 6 months old.

Took another pic..

He is magnificent..The more you look at him the better he gets..even his wattles are a great length..wing is held beautifully..color...ect...ect....My uncle Joe was a buff orpington man..he used to have those huge clevanger buffs that looked like a train coming at you when your a little kid....My cousin and I had to share wild strawberry patch out in the feild with Joes buffs..He reminds me of those..the hens would come running with thier big dewlap when they saw us heading for those strawberries..hes a real treat Renie..brings back so many wonderful memories of fat little buff babies in big stalls..My uncle kept them because in his opinion they were one of the worlds finest table birds..and very good egg layers..when he got sick he sold all of his treasured buffs many years ago. I was living in Colorado at that time or I would have taken them...I dont think I will ever forget racing through that big feild with all of those big buff hens right behind us..the thing I remember the most , was his roosters looked like great big golden lions to us kids..that big umbrella of neck feathers just like yours...made them look like lions to us..just beautiful..

When Vickie said the depth of keel in the hand..I knew exactly what she was talking about because we handled the joe babies a lot..they were indeed quite a full handfull..They are long gone now..I will have to ask my cousin where they went, I just remember they said somone came from long ways away to get them..
