Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Thats the best i can do, i think her mother is the front one on the first pic because she looks alot like her...

Bill, do you think males that have been showed are more rougher males? I always keep them in there own pen by the self. When I cut the feathers and put in breeding pens they are pretty rough. It might be I make mine males like that.

The cock I got from Doug was described as an aggressive breeder. And to me that means he defends his girls with all he has and is a very determined breeder. I can not say just cause they are aggreessive that means they're better SOP birds for show.

Matte, she's gorgeous!

I love splash, but none of the BBS eggs I've set have ever produced one. Some day....

I've heard about the hot potato method before. The heat basically softens/kills the spur so that it's easy to twist off if I understand it correctly.

So far as Roosters that are gentlemen and those that are not. Perhaps to some it's in the eye of the beholder. I do not want my girls torn up for no reason. To me, if a male insists on tearing up a hen even with no competition, he'll taste Danged Good in soup. This trait is inherited. Hopefully if I ai this "Wonderful Dude" I"ll get a few that didn't inherit it, but who knows. Maybe it's personal preference. Maybe I'm just too inexperienced. Or maybe not. I've only raised 4 roosters. One was really, really rough on the girls. BAD rough. He was the tastiest bird I ever ate. His name was Charlie: The other 3. Well. Two were pretty ok. They wanted what they wanted but they wouldn't tear anyone up to get it. And one was just plain, a wuss. I didn't keep Charlie and I'll not keep another that tears them up. That's me. ETA: No I did not AI this guy. I didn't want a thing to do with any of his offspring. Nothing.
