Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Your on Girl...Love the poultry shows..its my staycation..I go there to talk to the peeps..laugh at the chicken bingo..tour the birds, eat great food from the local haunts..its just a great day..you never know what your going to see..some of the chicken buggies are even a bigger treat...

a full day of buying stuff, and eating...works for me..we come home with everything from local wines, to basket of grapes..to you name it..
Two of my favorite shows Ohio National , and Winston Salem, used to have antiques shows right next door, and W-S had a large draft horse sale too. Heaven. Another fun show was at Galax, Va. A HUGE traders row, with every critter known to man. That's where I got my Sun Conures...still going strong after almost 20 years. We won't go into the awful little hedgehogs I bought, or the prairie dogs I ALMOST bought ! We could get into serious trouble girls !

I love seeing all the pics of everyone's birds. I have black orps. I think they are beautiful but I would love to sell my 4 cockerels and get a roo from another line for my pullets. It seems my only option around here is shipped eggs. I don't know enough about standards. I have so much to learn. when I do go to look for pics on what an orp should look like I find lots of pics of the English but not very many good pics of the American standard. Maybe I am not looking in the right place. I am rambling...

Back up a few posts. There are some pretty nice top notch American blacks posted. It will be a wonderful place to start.

I did see them. They are beautiful. I think what I really need is like a video with someone going 360 degrees around the bird and describing how this and that about the bird is standard. I basically need someone to hold my hand.

Quote: I would suggest you purchase a copy of the SOP. That will point you in the right direction. If you need someone to look at a bird with and for you, you need to go to a bird show. In your neck of the woods they have some really nice shows. You should go even if it will be for fun. You will learn so much. Some people will even let you touch the birds(ones not being shown). Exhibitors are usually more than happy to share information about there own birds.

This is Bellas auntie and her mothers real sister! :)

This is another pic like the one before, but if you look carefully you can see the orpingtons other chock asleep in her wing!:

Can I find that on amazon? I will have to look for some shows nearby. Thanks for the help.
