I'm not fond of his tail either. It never grows right. It's worse now cause my two drakes pick on him so much. He is the sweetest rooster I have had though. I had a Black roo who was mean as a snake. We kept him because he was a carrier for the lav but once this guy was big enough and proved fertile off to the butcher he went. Of course it didn't help his plight that he attacked me from behind!

So far the tail thing seems to be a non-issue with his offspring.

He's not bad. I would like him to be a bit thicker. I think he's more lean than the standard. Maybe lanky would be the best word for it. And obviously he is not as heavily feathered as I would want to see. If you look at the black girls in the photos, they are from a different line and their body type, more compact build and heavier feathering is more to standard, IMO. I have some chicks growing out from the first crossing of these two lines and they are definitely carrying the hens' body type.

I have some tanky little blacks and four blues that are four weeks old. They are the feathering in slow and being under the light has their feathers a little spikey. So cute and growing on a daily basis. I believe this first one is a little pullet

Don't worry no feather picking here. It is just the way they feather in. They will be completely clothed in two weeks.

Mabel just went broody! I love her gold collar! She follows me everywhere until now, she won't leave the nest. I have eggs coming thursday for her to hatch, can't wait. Pls PM me if anyone has 3 white orp eggs I can buy
