Or maybe I'll get lucky and one of your Lavenders will be a cockerel and you can rehome him to me!

Mwahahahahaha!

But in the long run, wouldn't that make both of us lucky? Because then we'd have a breeding pair here in the Bay Area that could produce all the Lavender chicks we wanted!

and you know that the blk split will produce lavs too...isn't that correct? experts?

But I thought you already had a roo?

I'm still trying to figure out how I got my supposed Lavs. lololol And I am just as happy IF we all want to call them something else. I sorta like that. I am the guy who has Lavs that are something else. lololol
And interestingly enough, I still have Mertyl, another MT HEALTHY Australorp cock from the same delivery. IF Landrew did have the supposed Lav gene, what chances do you think that Mert might have that gene? I could try to make some Lav Australorps sometime in the future.

Right, the Black split X Lavender mating will produce visually Lavender chicks as well as more Black split chicks. I'm not sure what the percentages are for that cross but I know that the result is both chicks.

Of course I'd rather have a pairing that just produced Lavender chicks, that would be the easiest! Hopefully your babies are girls though for your own peace of mind.

My Lav baby is pullet, there was a chance that she was a boy, but I've confirmed she's for sure a she. I'm very happy.

I do have a Heritage Delaware cockerel and a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana cockerel though!

Here are some babies I hatched here yesterday.

White and black orps (and a few araucana peeps hiding in there):

I would but all of my orp chicks went on an Express truck right out of here today to a couple bycer's. I have one more white orp hatch this year, then I think I'm taking a break on them for a while to focus on some other colors again.

I just love my buff orps pullets. Love the golden color, love the fluffy bottom, love the sweet temperament.
