I apreciate your kinds words. I know how much effort it took to get this fella here. And for sure the plan is throwing some nice girls under him. I might even take him to my White as well.

These are a few pictures of my Buff Orpingtons. They are my favorite birds. I just love them.
When the hens get broody this summer I plan on letting them hatch the eggs.

Here are some of them big nasty Buffs.
I only hatched out around 20. Sold six to 4-Hers in the beginning of June.
Left me with 14, which then got widdle down to 13 cause a lady had to have one with these babies Daddy and another pullet.
So, I had 12 going into last week. 2 more cockerels ran into my Sledge-a-Matic. Now2 to get the same here within the next 2 days. Before trash day. Hate having all the left over from processing floatin around.
That leaves 4 cockerels, and I have to get down to 2. That is what I was reccommended to do.
Not going to be easy. So, lets take them to a Show.
Our Boone County Poultry Club has an APA sanctioned show here in Lebanon IN on Oct 16th. That is why I pay the big money ($3 per Bird) to let someone else tell me what to do. lolol

Back in April I officially announced I was in the Jubilee Orpington project with this guy (Pumpkinhead) and his sis.
Since he has grown, I have been told to show him as a New Hampshire Red. So were are going to do that. It will be interesting how a Jubilee project bird does. The guy who told me to show him is the APA judge helping put on the Lebanon show. SO?? Lets do it!
The first, that I know of entry into an APA show for a HINK inspired Jubilee Orpington Project bird. (I would have never kept him IF I didn't read the HINK's Jubilee thread.) Pretty cool. just thought I'd share, that there is life for an Orpington Project bird flunky lololol

That rooster to me does not look like it could pass for a NHR.

ETA: This is a NHR cock, owned/shown by Doug Akers. I don't see how the above rooster could compete with such a bird.

I thought the same thing. Doug said the White skinned birds that have a tinge of Yellow will be DQ's for the yellow, but it don't work the same way with Yellow skinned birds looking White skinned. Doug is the APA judge who encouraged me to show this boy.

That makes no sense to me at all .... to show a "mutt," as a pure bred at an APA sanctioned show.

I don't understand. Aren't they all suppose to be pure?

Delawares are a cross of Barred Rock and I think NHR. I remember him telling me that. Then Delawares are mutts too.
HINK's put up a chart how the purebred Jubilee Orp were made using Speckled Sussex and BO. Mutts there too?
Priscilla Middleton's Silver Laced Orps, are Priscilla invention. Not pure either. Ditto with her Lav Orps



The original Black Orpington was bred by William Cook in 1886 by crossing Minorcas, Langshans and Plymouth Rocks to create a new hybrid bird. Cook selected a black bird that would exhibit well by hiding the dirt and soot of London.[5] The first Orpingtons looked very much like the Langshan. According to the British Poultry Standards, the White was bred in 1889, the Buff in 1894, and the Blue in 1905. When the breed was shown in Madison Square Gardens in 1895, its popularity soared.[6]

Besides the original colors (black, white, buff, blue), many other varieties exist today, such as porcelain (Jubilee, speckled), red, mottled and birchen. Although there are many additional varieties recognized throughout the world, only the original colors are recognized by the American Standard, and the Buff is the most common.[7] In the beginning of the twentieth Century Herman Kuhn of Germany developed a Bantam variety.[8] The Bantam retains the large appearance, but in a smaller size. Like the Standard varieties, there is a large variety of colors in the Bantam version (i.e. black, blue laced, white, buff, red, buff black laced, barred, buff columbian, and birchen.)[9] The Bantam retains the friendly personality of the Standard breed, and seldom or never flies, so it too makes for a good backyard breed.[10]

ALL OTHER VARIETIES are mutts too.

All breeds are developed by crossing other breeds. That is a pretty bird, so have fun with him. Certainly nothing to lose but the entry fee. Good luck!
