Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

These little ones are from another BYC member's Lavender Orpington project. The light one (blue?) hatched 9/16 and the other 3 (black) 9/17....
(The red tint is from the heat lamp)

I've been trying all summer and finally have a successful hatch. Four out of six ain't bad. Here's hoping they aren't all boys.

Here's Merlin, my Blue cockeral from Mrs AK Bird brain. He's about 9-10 wks old in this picture. He's almost twice that size now and the sweetest thing ever.

LOL so I'm gonna take a break now from my 100 acre farm and grab some pics of my orp group to post on here...love all the pics on this thread!
On another note, I'm getting some eggs from Bama chicken this next week, I've never hatched out from shipped eggs, is there anything I need to do different from non-shipped eggs besides the "rest" period after they arrive?

Buff Beauty I think that chicken in the wash tub is a new variety called the toe-head orpington

Kathyinmo Love that fluffy black hen

AKpeeps very cute chick pics! You should post a more current pic of merlin, I'm never quite organized enough to get those progression pics people seem to have, but I love seeing them!

this is my black cockerel. (He's a little slower at maturing than my blue) they are both 7 months old. I'm anxious to see which one will make the "cut". I think I will wait to make any decisions

Here is one of the original Buffs I got last spring. I call her Sweetness. I like her huge head and the correct Buff color that goes all the way down the feathers. This is why I choose to save the fight with my wing feathering for a future crop of Buffs to weed from. Many of us here, we don't have perfect birds to work from. So, I choose color over correct wingsets as the trait to work on first Next spring once I have locked down some with the corrct color I will get to fixing my wing feathers. Sweetness definitely has passed both traits down the line..

Capt RON's girls met with Thurston and made some decent younger girls. I gave away 2 other cockerels and kept just one. He is way too leggy and may not be here for the fall.

The comment Leghorn head was made about these girls. They may have to go. Weird how I get such a smaller head using two big head Buffs. Thurston is no small boy. And has a nice noggin too

The Boppettes
These won't be leghorn Heads

Thought I would ad this girl.
The legacy of the Sweetness lives on!!
Give me more Big Heads

Congratulations on your chicks! Merlin is gonna be a very nice roo, isn't he? He looks great!

Yes he is. I'm very happy with him. He's going to be huge. His daddy is 10 pounds and about 2 ft. tall.
