Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

OK show report from way down here in Arkansas.
My hen and cock bird both placed 3rd of 5. First was of course Terry Britt, then 2nd was Roy Autrey's granddaughter's birds. Mr. Roy got lots of his from Terry and Superior farms and then I got mine from Mr. Roy, so it was to be expected to placed down like I did. It was awesome and I learned ALOT!! Here's some pics!

This is Kalee Gafford's (Roy Autrey). Won Junior Champion English

Nice job !!! You got to start somewhere. I got thoroughly trounced the first three shows I attended and had to wait for a show that Doug did not attend. And I had to raise some from egg to be competative to win anything. One rule to remember is the best breeders usually are getting rid of a Buff for a reason. And usually it is an off color that is why they get rid of them. So, be proud of what you did.
Your main competition is yourself. And you now have a feeling of what to look for when you start to hatch out for next year. Good JOB!!

Thanks! Yep, they for sure arent gonna give you their best!! My pullets will start laying soon and theyll go under my roo so thats when i'll start seeing some good birds come out. Congrats again on your win. We need to all figure out a place to meet up at the ohio natl.

A couple of pics of my Best of Variety boys. Boss Hogg beats the other cockerel I brought (Fidrych).
L A R S beats no one. he was the only Blue entered in the Orpingtons.

Bad angle of Boss
I had another lousy day taking pics.

This pic chops part of L A R S head off. He basically has the same comb as Boss Hogg.

Another head decapitation
I was wiped out, and took some really worthless pics.
I did what I was told to do. jack was mad at me for not asking and talking to the judges at our Indiana State Fair. So, I waited and talked to Paul at the very end of the day. Other then the folks with green shirts who worked the Show, it was just Paul and I. Really nice guy too. Very smart in breeding. He said this cockerel, in his opinion will be as good or maybe better then the pullet that did so well. I wanted to know what he thought about my Blacks. And he said come here and walked up to the cage with this fella.
So here is my sleeper. He took Reserve Variety. And he is unnamed too. lolol To be politically correct I call my Buff pullet ATHenA. Wifes last name was ATHA. You have to please those who are the closest to you. Dunno who said it, but it sounds like a plan.

Nice broad back, with a tail too.

Here is the Rewerve Orpington of the Show.
Russ Milkey is the Black Orpington breeder I got my first blacks from. My LahFawnDuh is the daughter of this hen. Her mate and dad of my girl Russ said is too big. near 14 lbs. Now this is what they say. But my girl and daughter of this hen is a TANK!
This is why. She gorgeous isn't she. Congrats to Russ Milkey for the Reserve Orpington winniner

I went online last nite to look up the Ohio nationals, and the Deadline for entering was this past Sat. I asked around and they give you 3 or 4 days after the deadline if your post marked in the mail and you can eneter.
I entered 4 birds. 3 are orps. And one Blue Ameraucana. So, IF you thought of entering you still can. Just get it out in the next day or two.

Well, I need to decide if im going to show at the OH national. I have a show im going to go to the week before. Do you guys think it would be OK for the birds if I showd the same birds two weeks in a row?

Sure i don't know why not. The judge I talked to I believe he told me he did back to back shows. He was so far behind by the second show on getting caught up with his flocks he didn't wash her and won the Show. The stringman I seen at our State Fair hit two or three shows in a row. You should see the size of the checks they get to bring in a couple of hundred birds per show.
