Okay my Mottled mom was an ALL Black Orp that molted and is feathering in as a Mottled. Now my young Mottled pullet has a Choc feather. I now can hope when she molts she feathers back as a Choc Mottled.
that makes sense right?
I am using KORgo with these Mottles. IF he is also a Milkey line Orp he may also have the same recessive genetics. Look at these white shafts around his neck. And MAYbe he will throw who knows what else when taken back to his sis and this Mottled pullet. Just a thought. IF he does have the MOTTLED GENE he saves me from waiting a generation to make pure Mottles. Fun project.
Again I know nothing about genetics. And am just playin around with what I see in my flock. Just havin fun.
I also will have to keep my eye on these Flozelle babies. Flo got eaten last week by a coon. There is a bounty on that coon. But I have at least a dozen I know of from Flo and LahFawnDuh. Which means more recessive genes can pop up.
some of the milkey line boys. 75%ers
Boy I hope I am right. It will make this project run so much more smoother. I won't have to worry about size. These boyz grandpa is 14 lbs. much easier to shrink a bird then make them bigger
I had to ad this pic. The mom of my Mottled. She too is molting from a Choc color back to black, KORgo is doing the opposite.
Weird huh? I am gettin some of them featers and saving them. lololol
