I fried my modem last nite by drop a drink on it. Can't understand why that would knock me of the net? lololol
I am back!
Joy, some of these babies are wousies. not all go outside. the Buffs are the biggest babies. the Older Blacks have learned and love the snow. the cruise over to my Morans pen and eat their food. Then waddle back to their food bucket to chow down on their own food. Their little pigs.
Since I was off the net last nite, I had a good conversation with one of my Black Orp breeders about whom and what we all like in my flock. I told her that I am lite years away from you ladies. I plan on using the one Black cockerel with the funky tail. I have enough decent tail hen/pullets to pair him up with to hopefully make some nice Blacks next spring.
Your birds look wonderful! I can see the huge improvement in everyone line of Blacks and Blues thanks to you two ladies. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Bill. It's been a long, hard row to hoe, but I'm getting there. I just love seeing pictures of the Blues and Blacks that have been crossed with the English orp - some great improvement and strides being made. It's really exciting to see.
Well my birds are pigs too, but they are all weenies. They won't even step their dainty feet on snow, I have to shovel out the runs. My runs are 1/2 covered and 1/2 open. They will go out as far as the roof line and then stop. LOL. Such spoiled brats !!
The snow here from yesterday is a wet sticky snow. Even my vets don't like it. But, they like to eat. From my limited experience, I have few problems with these birds in the cold winter. No one gets sick. The predators are staying away. We did get a possum a few weeks ago. He has been gnawed into halves. My youngest pup Scanner was seen fighting over the bottom half just a few mins ago. I had to break it up. My birds wished I would shovel. They have room under the coops. And seem to take it in stride.,
