I am still building the ship that my eggs come in. Then I will paint the ship. Then I will worry about painting eggs.
Bruno sired daughters who routinely lay between 5 and 6. IF you like darker eggs try breeding Black Copper Marans. Their the ones who's eggs are more likely going to satisfy you.
For now, this season I am happy with these. Far as my Birchens go. And next year we will see how well Bruno bloodline (which is from the original wave of Marans to hit the States) can add to darkening the egg color.

My Lavender Project & Black Orpingtons. I'm still breeding back to black because they are still a project bird and definitely unfinished unless you get the latest batch directly from Jody. They still need to be bigger & the shape is not quite there yet. I'll be crossing both split to split & lav to split with the next batch. The mother of my lavender pullets & cockerel is a split who won Best English.

The black orps are so much bigger than the lavender girls.

Thanks! He's still a little guy compared to Elton, but he isn't even a year old. I love his color & his feathers are nicer -- smoother. Type is not too bad, but definitely still needs work. Out of my lav girls, Lillith has a better shape & is a bit bigger than Eve.

Adam, Lilith & 2 of the black girls will be making their debut at the Fingerlakes Feather Club show in June at the NYS Fairgrounds.

Hey all!! I haven't been on in a while. Busy! Busy! Everyone's flocks are looking great. I had to stop in and brag. This pullet went to a show this weekend and won BV, BB, Champ English and Reserve Large Fowl! I was so excited!! Of course she wouldn't fully cooperate for the pic!! She's one of the first that I hatched when I first got my buff orps. We have another show next weekend so we'll see how that goes!!
