Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Beth G. :

Gosh a lot of chickies dying to dogs lately. I'm thinking owners need to go to proper care for dogs school to keep their poor pets from attacking our chickens.

Maybe you will get some of those Orps your longing for

I hatched out some chicks for my neighbor back in April or something and then a few wks ago a dog got into his pen and killed all but 3. If he is game, I'm going to give him about 20-40 chickens for replacements...you know what that means for me???

I have more room for different breeds!

I don't know if its the flash or lighting but one of those Orps is like a light coloreD New Hampshire Red looking color. Kinda nice

. I was hoping for a bit of smutt in the tail feathers of one of my darker Buff pullets but no go
sad.png
I wanted to bred a nice smutty tailed buff girl to my big boy godzilla for some nice buff offspring color and size. Maybe I'll get one soon

Jimmy that could have been really bad yikes!! I'm glad it turned out good for you!! Debbie doesn't need to lose anymore of her babies this year!
Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

I have a 7 y/o Shih-Zue named Gypsy, never harmed a fly...until recently. She killed about 10 of my SQ juveniles that were roaming the front yard, didn't eat them just killed them for the fun of it. She now has to be constantly watched. Never would have thought my sweet cuddly grandma dog would have killed chickens, gosh was I wrong!

Beth that is the offspring from a pair of SS/BO's that was an accidental hatch from last spring. I seen some here on BYC were trying to make jubilees with that mix. And your about right. I did show this fella's daddy at the Central Indiana Poultry Show as a New Hampshire. He had to go up against the real deal. I am not sure IF in fact the one he lost to was an Akers New Hamp. But that bird was near perfect. But this fella and his sis's can lead me down several paths for other projects besides New Hamps and Jubilees. Red Orpingtons are one I may get. I can also use them to enrich my Buff color in my Buff Orp program. Since the original Buff Orp was a pure Tony Ewert line cock via from Terry Britt, he has the type that has been passed down. You can see a full rounded breast. And 2 of his sis's will be very Orpy type.
The color we are wanting is like this Buff cock I bought this spring.
This is the best I have and just started to get some chicks from him. He is from the very best Buff breeder I ever met Doug Akers.
