Comb only counts for 5 out of 100 points. If all other parts are good, then comb is the least importance. Now sidesprigs is a DQ. But if the comb looks good all but but the points, just use him.

My best Buffs are in molt and just look god aweful! I simply did not hatch out enough Buffs. I will be using 3 Buff pens come next season in full bore mode. I have one special pen which has one of Doug's cock which has great color. MAYBE this season's best Buff pullet came from him and one of my better Buffs from last season. She has great color. I only have 10 of my older Buffs from this season to choose from. Their all around 5 month oles. My Blacks are near or closing in on 7 months old. My best Orp for type is prolly my Brown Red cockerel. He will be just under 7 months old and he got some nice comment for type from 2 judges at his first show. One is Matt L the ABA guy who loves Moderns and I knew he had thought of making Brown Reds but had a fault to make him get rid of his starting stock. I simply lucked out with Frank (The Brown Red cockerel). He looks like body type and size wise like a nice younger Buff cockerel. Except he is Brown Red. I think early next year I hope to have some other neat project birds worth layin and ready to take to a show. And hope to really aggressively hatch out more Buffs and Blacks. Only have one pure White Hen and one Buff Sport pullet with my single comb White Wyandotte to use with my pure snowball White cockerel, and the huge Buff Sport cockerel who is or close to 12 lbs to use with them for my White Orp program to FINALLY get off the drawing board.
Looking forward to meeting ya. let me know when you plan of getting in town and I will look for ya at the Crossroads SHow
