Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

"Chief Two Tail Feathers" stage. Had me cracking up!!!!! His tail does look pitiful right now. I am hoping between him and the eggs in the incubator now to have a trio or so to improve upon come early spring next year.

I am in love with Orpingtons of all colors. I also have Lemon Cuckoo and HinkJc Lavender eggs in right now. Shipping was horrible but have a few developing on day 8. Just candled a couple that have nice active embryos moving around. Will candle them all in 2 days and am hoping for the best. My local eggs are on day 14 and look great.

Would love to cultivate some relationships with some of the Orp masters on here. Dragonlady and Hallfamily what does someone have to do to get on your good sides? I can send copious amounts of wine if needed.........

I have stared at each and every photo on your site 1000 times. That is probably pretty accurate too! I am in love with your large foul and your bantams! As soon as I have some money I will be in touch. I must have some of your buff's and self blues I want LF and bantams.

I don't know you or Walt , Bob, Dragon Lady or yinepu personally but I have learned so much from all of you on various threads. I all ready owe so many people so much just for the knowledge passed on. It is greatly appreciated. You guys are so awesome!

Has anybody heard of http://www.santacruzmountainschickens.com/ He has a lavender splash orpington that is beautiful. Just never heard of Lavender Splash . Is this even a real color? They are really pretty birds.

Thanks for the welcome into "The Fancy" I really have the bug bad.

The APA refers to the Lavender color as Self Blue. I can not speak for the seller, but I have never heard of a Lavender Splash. Marc does not have any listed on his site. There is a Splash that is the result of breeding Blue to Blue. Below is some photos of our Orpington Bantams.

Here is a Lavender/Self Blue from the American developer (and BYC staff) hinkjc from https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/414270/development-of-usa-lavender-orpington-update-pics-pg-8

I would say the photo you posted is a Splash from a Blue/Blue breeding. They may be using a Lavender in their breeding pen, but yours looks more like Splash. If the lavender gene is showing it will look like the hinkjc bird. Birds like this is another reason not to use a Blue in your Lavender project. It becomes confusing as to what is Splash and what is Lavender. Notice the "splashes" of darker color on light in your photo. This is where the term Splash comes from. Lavender is an even color over the entire bird. The hackle feathers of your photo is Blue. lavender is the lav gene. Splash is the carrying of 2 blue genes. Where Blue is the carrying of one blue gene.

Hoping I have not totally confused you. There are several threads on BYC that better explains the Black/Blue/Splash genetics. The Hinkles started their own thread on their development of the USA Lavenders at https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/414270/development-of-usa-lavender-orpington-update-pics-pg-8
Again, here are some of our Black/Blue/Splash Orpington bantams for a comparison on color.

Our Orpington Bantams.
BLACK/BLUE/SPLASH
Blue/Splash. We acquired these from Dick Hortsman. They have placed Best of Variety several times.

Hi Junkinstuff. Welcome. All it takes to get on my good side is to have a sincere interest in Orps, or any other breed for that matter, and a desire to learn. Learn about the standard for your breed, learn to properly house and care for your birds. The key word here is "care". They are all God's creatures. Lastly, enjoy your birds, and meeting the fellow breeders who are in the fancy for the right reason.Anyone with a sincere desire to learn to do it right gets on my good side in a hurry.

i am just wondering if APA judges are held to any kind of a standard themselves..i dont think explatives are very good way to present an opinion..nor should they get that involved in someone unless they are aware of the entire picture..this person was only pointing out one particular bird not all of them..so this judge is as always only hearing one side of the story..to be fair to the judge..perhaps apa might need to investigate their judges conduct, they do have a code of conduct im sure..not flaming just curious if they engage this sort of behavior to this level..others that i know quickly de-escalate a situation like this...2 of my apa freinds simply will not get involved these things.

I apologize for my quoting what a friend of mine said about the "CUT AWAY BREAST" thing. Obviously I am trying to not only defend my breeding program but also trying to help those who may not know what is and isn't a good breast.
To anyone who cares, you can PM me and I will give you what the APA judge said. What was said is best for PM's only.
Again I apaologize for the dozen of so folks who read this email quote.

So, speaking of young birds. Here are 2 young young Mid May hatches who, like my 5 month old Black pullet, are well on their way to becoming permanent members in my breeding program.

I respect you all. I have nothing to compare with your birds and I very much enjoy the pictures and the critiques.

But this has gone way too far. Please agree to disagree and lets get back to enjoying the birds.
