Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Thank you. If the bbs had not stolen my heart I would love some from the dragonlady. And like delisha said I too am trying to get the bbs going.

thedragonlady really tests us when she posts pictures. She knows we can't all have them, but all want them. Shame on her.

Here's the promised photo of the spider web of monofilament line that protects my Buff Orps. from the circling hawks and eagles. The area is about 1/2 acre under cover. You can see some of the girls way in the back next to the fence.

Here's what the web is protecting......

!00% and 50 % EBO juveniles 5-9 weeks old.........

Monty and their mothers....

Thanks for showing that spiderweb; I'm going to do that too; had an owl get a pullet a few weeks ago. First time I've had areil predation. OH boy, I would LOVE to have some wide load buffys like yours! My hatchery birds don't even look like the same breed!

Hey everyone!!! :waves:

Hope you all had a great holiday!

We went away for 4 days to visit family in SC, which was nice because there was about a 10 degree temperature difference! I'm an island girl, I don't know how everyone deals with the cold weather!!! It's in the 50's and I'm wearing 6 layers and 2 pairs of socks! lol

Anyway, remember my BBS orps I posted pictures of the babies??? And everyone said that they thought that the 2 big splashes were gonna be girls??? [I may have to dig for the post]

Well, I came home and they both have doubled in size [they are 2x as big as the other babies] and now they both have pointed tail feathers that stick up and are starting to curve over!!! I took a million pictures tonight on my phone, and then it died, so I'm charging it.

I'll post pictures in a bit, you'll have to tell me if I'm crazy or if they're both actually becoming roos!!

Also, how many roosters do I need for a flock of 11 hens? Is 2 sufficient or will I need 3? I don't want to piss of the neighbors with a flock of roosters, but I want to make sure that there are enough roos around to do the job right, come spring!

And if I do only need 2 roos, how do I choose? Both of the suspected baby roos are so sweet, they come right up to me and let me pet them and everything...The bigger suspected roo is a clown, and I don't want to get rid of him either! They're so funny! When they run, it's more of a gallop....is that normal? My BOs don't waddle, they run!

Here are the original pictures of the two splashes

And here are pictures I took like 10 minutes ago...Please forgive my shaky camera skills, my iphone camera leaves A LOT to be desired. Tell me what you think!!! Hen or Roo in the making :)

Boy those two sure have girly faces, don't they? If they're roos, they will have very nice heads.
