july,,,,turkey of many colors,i guess hes one of a kind

How old is he? He can't be a jake because he has a full fan! 2+ years? I've never seen a bird change colour that significantly! He is gorgeous though!!! The one pic reminds me of our slate Tom.

Does anybody have a tom turkey who is a complete suck? Ours is so docile, he is at the bottom of the pecking order in our chicken coop...even lower than the leghorns. I rarely see him eat from the feeders. He goes crazy when he sees his yellow cup with feed. I have to stand there holding it while he eats twice a day. He just wants to be hand fed all the time. What a weirdo!!

he is two years old, anybody has a turkey that changes color like this one,he suppose to be a auburn, but your guess is a good as mine, lol,i took a good pic last year more of a silver auburn

Is it possible he is a red bourbon/slate cross? We have two ducks that are mutts and no one can figure out their breed. Probably a cross. They're beautiful regardless but I just want to know the breed so badly!

he mated with a silver auburn and auburn,i have 10 around 3 months of age, waiting to see how they look at one year,so far three look like a silver auburn and 7 look like the auburn

I hand raise a select few for pets/ breeders they get 100% affection and love, it's a fun but s slight hassles as they now are following me anywhere, I forgot about them in the yard yesterday when I took my dog on a needed jog, 3 houses away I look back and my two midget whites were following me and clucking frantically, so I had Togo home, give them a treat and lock them in the coop.

Also they get places that are hard to clean , like my roof it's got turkey poop on it now, also the cars they sit on I thank they like the heat of the hood? Because they leave there mark in large piles :/

But on the other hand I do enjoy them enough that I'm going to socialize two more.:D

But on that note how old should they young one be before I introduce them to the flock ?

Hello. We recently bought some poults from a feed store. The fellow there thought they were Narragansetts and Slates. The Narragansetts are 5 weeks old and the Slates are 6 weeks old.

One of the Narri's has different markings. Any ideas on what they may be or what type of mix?

We have these 5 and 4 BBB that are 16 weeks old. Those are all hens and are growing massive. They will soon join their cousins (15 roosters that were packing peanuts in the BBB shipment) in the freezer. The 5 just bought will be breeding stock for heritage birds.

Thanks

Your slates are definitely not purebred blue slates. They are some type of mixed slates with possibly some bronze mixed in.
