in all probability she will go broody on a clutch of 8 to 15. Depends on the hen but each have there own number. Earlier in year usually bigger the clutch later in season could be a few as one or two eggs.Im new at all this so I have crazy questions. So if she lays more than 20 do I need to start taking some eggs out?
Im clueless at all this. LOL
My hen who is currently broody was happy to take about 18 eggs. They didn't all fit under her, since she is rather small, so I took some out until they fit. I took some extra out too, so that I didn't have more poults than I wanted.
uestion what is your hen laying in. If possible try something she can get in to lay and tom cant get in or on top. In my pens i have dog houses. The ones in my barn stall in leaned some plywood against the wall and the hens go behind it to lay.Well she was up to 4 eggs and my Tom keeps trying to do his thing while she laying and 1 got busted.
