Post picture of your turkeys!

I agree with Oldhen. Mine are in shade all year too. With mine, their feathers fade throughout the year

our 1 year old Red Bourbon is sitting on 10 eggs. Hoping to see at least a few little fellas tomorrow morning.

Does anybody know the most likely breed of turkey to go broody on her eggs and be a good mother?

For the most part all of my heritage hens will go broody. I have narris, bourbons, royal palms, chocolates. And last year slates.

Now being a good mother is different story. My slate and narris were the best mothers last year. But they were older birds.

One hen hatched and when the eggs hatched she quit. She just wanted to brood.

Being a good mom depends on age and the hen.

Good luck

Thanks I have some very young royal palms so I will just collect the babies when they hatch

i got a really young red bourbon hen last week at auction and she was in extremely horrible condition she has bumble foot and barely eats and drinks on her own. She just started yelping yesterday. We cut out the plug on her foot and gave her tylan 50 and we just now started giving her penicillin. She is doing so much better.

Hi, everyone! This is Ginger, my rescued broad-breasted pet turkey. She is the best!!! I wish more people realized what sweet, loving, intelligent birds they are.
