If it was a roo, you'd know by now. Buff hens lay late, at about 6 months, but a buff roo wouldn't look like that.

I've had Orpingtons many times before. The redness is what's making think it's a late bloomer cockerel.
I'm working on Project Wheaten Crele Orpingtons, so I still have Orpingtons.
