We won't know for certain unless one flies a little closer and I get a new camera.

Hopefully this summer.

And I was referring to the rough legged hawk which is also known as the rough legged buzzard.

It looks like the pair of golden eagles that we have living in our area. Looks like the white on the tip of the one wing is a reflection of some kind.

Here's the second most common bird in my yard. The common Bushtit. They are tiny (hummingbird tiny). Thought they were gone, but saw a couple in the apple trees today. Again I can't take credit for the pix.

So here's a picture I was able to take a couple of months ago when this big white bird arrived on my lawn! I've never seen it again. I think it was on it's way somewhere, got lost and dropped in to regroup. What a treat!

Last but nowhere near least was this guy. Early one morning, just a few days after the great horned owl departed for good, this fella made an appearance! It was eating something and the dog flushed it up onto the same Palo Verde tree that the owl was in. What is it do you think? It's nothing like the hawks I usually see.

That looks like a juvenile Sharp-Shinned hawk. Different from the Cooper's hawk because of the squared off tail.
