Here you go. Pics of my Olive Eggers[Not so] Patiently waiting for the chicks we ordered from Meyer Hatchery (we ordered for a hatch date of April 29, so we have a ways to go yet). I have a pretty solid idea for what most of the chicks will look like, but we ordered one olive egger and from website photos it's a wildcard as to what that one's look like.
In the meantime, indulge me and share pictures of your olive Eggers. Adult or chicks, I just wanna look at pretty birds!
She looks like mine! So beautiful. I was just told mine isn’t an olive egger though cause she doesn’t have a crest. Yours gives me hope that she still could be.View attachment 3746093View attachment 3746094
This is ash my adorable baby! I absolutely adore this chicken she was the sweetest girl! Plus she layed such lovely olive eggs!!
If the olive egger doesn't have a Crest, all it means is the parents didn't have a Crest. All three of mine are crestless because neither araucana nor marans have crests, but they do have the color genes needed for olive eggsShe looks like mine! So beautiful. 2 of my green egg birds don't have crests either. The 3rd is F2 of an F1 olive egger. She has a 3 feather crest. I was pretty sure her mother didn't have a crest (she was the Egger, pop was a BLRW). Her daughter had a 5 feather crest but lays brown eggs. None of my boys have crests. She looks like mine! So beautiful. I was just told mine isn’t an olive egger though cause she doesn’t have a crest. This is good to know! I didn't think anything of it till someone told me that mine is a Sapphire Gem. She was sold to me as a Sapphire Olive Egger and I've seen some that look like her and are OEs but I know Sapphire Gems look just the same! She's got a super red comb and wattles, squatting and messing around in the laying boxes every day so I guess I'll find out soon!If the olive egger doesn't have a Crest, all it means is the parents didn't have a Crest. I'm really hoping this is the case with mine. I love her either way, she's such a sweetie, but I was really looking forward to green eggs!2 of my green egg birds don't have crests either.
