I’ve been amassing photos of this little girl for a few days now, and I swear she gets worse every time. This is Cleo, my Easter Egger hen, and her first molt. On the plus side, she’s been a lot more cuddly than usual, because she’s so cold.

Holly, my winner last year, is gearing up to have another harsh molt…

Fancy Nancy is getting her feathers back! Thank goodness, it has gotten to freezing at night. I just put up a blanket over the door to keep in heat, they also have a light in their coop, not for heat, just to lay. LED don't have heat.

I was thinking about Nancy today, glad she is growing in her feathers, hard molters can get cold!

Omg this thread - particularly this pic - is making me feel so much better! Our GLW hen just recently lost her entire tail EXACTLY like this and it's been worrying me SO MUCH b/c I keep reading that molting starts at the head/neck and proceeds toward the tail ... So of course I've been convinced there's something drastically wrong with her. (Because I'm a complete NOOB.) Loving seeing what a molt can look like - thank you all for sharing!!
