Oh yes. They look pathetic. Sad too. I don't touch them when they are in molt. I read somewhere it could cause them more pain. That makes sense to me. 🤣
That’s really funny that you say that, because one of my molting hens refuses to let me touch her right now, that’s very unlike her, I bet that’s why!

certainly! there are a host of other behavior changes as well. Rosie pictured here is normally bossy, loud, and confident. 3 years of annual molting and I’ve seen her become shy, quite, and a bit passive. i normally do not even picture my molting hens, but poor Rosie is molting solo and looks sad. look at her before pic. only taken a couple weeks ago!

That’s cool. I figured her change had to do with the molt so I wasn’t worried, but that does make me feel better. She is so pretty!
