Thank you! I tried really hard and put alot of sweat and tears into it...only a drop or two of blood though! Yay!! lol

Yay finally have my coop! I ditched the pallet idea and just based it off of 8x4 plywood. Bf was the main builder and I think did an awesome job! I'm so happy :)

Solid base we started with:

This weekend the guys will move it to its spot, and we'll plan out the run :)

All these chicken houses look awesome!

I'm itching to share photos but I've only built two of the side frames at the moment. Need to buy more wood and concrete today to start the foundations :)

My new coop. Found a free 8' x 8' shed and converted it into a coop for my six girls. Right now they are only using half the space but we will make it to the full thing as we get more chickens in the spring. The run is 10' x 12' and they also free range during the day.

Still in the works but here's what I've got so far..

Introducing the "Taj Ma Coop" (name suggested by a friend and it's kinda sticking)

The inside is 20' long by 10' deep with a slanted roof that goes from about 16' tall down to about 12' tall. Their front door (first door i ever made and it works great, btw!) opens into one of their favorite hangouts, my horses' back turnout, and their back door opens into the backside of one of my horse's stalls. This particular horse has a stall guard when he's in so they walk right past him out to the rest of the barn (if I let them). And, although the horse could walk through the door to get in the coop, he has no interest.. Good old guy.

I'm still letting the chickens free range when I'm home but they're safe and secure in the coop behind their steel grates at night. The perimeter is lined with bricks and the sides I dug down at least 12-18 inches and made a wall with 2" by 10" by 10' boards.

I have to work on redecorating a bit but it's functional now and, best of all, it's safe at night.

Overall cost, less than $8 for the hinges and latches for the front door.. The rest of the stuff I had lying around the farm :D

This was my first real chicken coop, from design to finish. I did it all myself in less than a day with no help (except a few times of me asking my son to bring stuff to me like screws, level, hammer..) The overhang was there to begin with but nothing else. I am very proud of myself for how it all came out so nice, in my opinion ;)
