post your chicken coop pictures here!

We just converted an old wooden shed that my husband found on craigslist into our new chicken coop. It was one of those "haul it away and its yours" things. It was in pretty rough shape.

We redid the roof completely. All materials were scraps from our family friends farm by way of bribery with baked goods and the wood, my husband collected from work. All free..

The finished product.

Nothing fancy.. but not too bad for mostly FREE with the exception of wire, hinges, locks and screws :)

Coop and run on a slope so I had to have braces. I got to thinking- why not turn the triangle space created by the braces into useful chicken space? Instead of building a lot of little separate bachelor coops for when the ladies need a break why not section off for 2 or 3 roos per breed where they can still be around others? This coop isn't finished yet but I am anxiously waiting to see how the flock dynamics work with this idea. Each roo space will get a roost, feeder and waterer with a solid division wall to prevent fighting through wire. The roo doors are inside the run on the top portion

Will have wire across bottom. Here's the house for the rest in the coop.

No back yet, front beside pop door will be hinged to access nest box, clean out and can be left open in warm weather. There are two roost but one can't be seen because of the angle. Hoping to have this one done today and then build 5 more for the other standard breeds coming.

Just got my coop build finished today, hope to get 4-8 laying hens and maybe a rooster (I have a couple of options, will have to see which works out) yet this week. Then have a 400 sq ft covered run out of T-posts and 2x4 14 ga welded wire fencing done in a couple weeks. Coop is 6' x 12' x 85" tall, with another 6' x 4' beyond the partition wall for isolation, brooding, storage etc. The whole coop build is documented here if you want to check it out. West End East End
NICE, very well planned!

Awesome Job! I have been spreading the word in my area that I'm looking for an old shed to repurpose into a coop. Would love to find one with character like yours!

I love the old rustic look it has! The roost plasement on the inside has been tricky though. Theres a window on each side. There are rosts in the corners by the front door but they sleep huddled up on their feed shelf :/ so still trying to modify a bit to work out the kinks but they are adjsting well.
