The rubbermaids and milk crates get laid in alot. A couple of the cardboard boxes are favorites and certain birds will only lay in these. And you are correct that is hay by the door. It was a whole square bale but we peel the top layer as it gets dirty. There are a few more pictures in our coop album.
what are the 3 toots for and is that a pile of hay near the door, do the hens get up to the top to lay eggs in milk crates? i used them for awhile, then went to an action and found our metal three tir nest which has 15 nests in it, my hens are still getting use to that, there are 5 on each layer.

My foursome would have the entire haybale spread within the day....they love tearing into a pile of anything..And they will spread it over then entire run of the coop! Don't know how they do it so quickly !LOL
I absolute love the material your wall are made out of.....allows great light!

Just don't understand men sometimes.......pardon to those men on here who are exceptions.....! Was trying to talk to my hubby while we were cuddled up here on the couch last nite,,,,showing him the small coops that would work for the "suggestions" that he had. Thought about using the kids playground set they have ourgrown but he said "that's in the MIDDLE of the back yard (1.5 acres) and it would be too hot." ...sooooo I looked at our present coop. It is well build and under the front wing of our shed.. why not add a small coop to the back of the shed and make a run that could be connected for both coops?....build it to follow the lines of the shed roof....maybe a 4x5 or so.... I have a couple at church who want to help me build it. I've already been collecting scrap lumber..

.All of a sudden he said.."well, it doesn't have to be built before around July does it..we have plenty of time". Then I explained that I wanted to get the pullets in early spring like April. Now I have been telling this man when I wanted to get the new ladies for months and he has just realized what I have been saying.......................................??????????????????????????????
