post your chicken coop pictures here!

It's not as pretty, but chickens don't care.

Very true!! The next question is whether to put it in the nest boxes or not. I think we should but dad thinks it won't make a difference in cleaning because of this lip. I think it will at least protect the floor some or be a little easier. We probably will since we have extra.

These are just the 2 outer boxes since the lid was propped up so i couldnt get a pic of the middle one, theres 3, but you can see the lip. I think we should but idk.

KDOGG331 - I'd cover any floor possible. I even primed my floors and caulked any holes and cracks before putting the vinyl floor down. I don't want my floor rotting.

I haven't made an effort to train my 2 dogs. They don't bark at my hens or chase them up and down the run. I have seen 1 of my dogs snatch a wild bird and devour it in 2 bites. The other one the previous owners allowed to go feral and was know for killing sheep, thus us rescuing it from a shelter. They were given the option, up for adoption or having it put down. When that kinda thing is allowed it's kinda hard to retrain and break the habit. I just make sure the chickens and dogs don't get a chance to mingle. Everybody has different circumstances.I love my dogs and my hens, I just know for me and my circumstances it's best not to let them mingle.

Smart! The issue is only one of making sure the chickens are safe from the dogs whether it be a physical barrier or the dogs having no interest in chasing or eating them. And if the dogs just can't manage to restrain themselves from chasing chickens that are in a separate area they can see, a visual barrier as well.

If the chickens are pooping in the nest boxes you have other issues. The bottom of mine are all plain plywood and there is about 6" of pine shavings in them. Nothing ever gets close to the floor and my hens do not sleep or poop in the nests.

Here is my new portable run. Four corner supports and a central "tree". Draped with poultry net and staked at sides. I added a small door to the side of my coop so I can shut them up at night.

Thanks, I think I might. I mean, we have the extra piece and it's not gonna be used. Fortunately the floor is pressure treated plywood but I figure why not? It's not really any more work, I might.

Well they're not pooping in there, as far as I know but when I need to replace the shavings and stuff it might be easier but maybe not. It's sometimes difficult with the current coop but then it's a junk kit made in China ahah sometimes I put D.E. or something down and it might be easier to get out. I don't know, we have the extra piece.

The bigger issue right now, besides lack of production, is that they tend to kick all the shavings out of the box and then it's the bare floor. Hopefully with the new boxes and way deeper shavings in there they won't be able to do that or want to. I think the boxes are 14 inches wide, 2 feet deep, and 16 inches high but the roof slopes down for rain runoff and I can't remember if we decided on 16 inches at the peak and 14 inches in the back or 18 inches in the front so it'd still be 16 inches im the back. I'd have to look. But yeah. The current coop, being only like 3x3, I think the boxes are a foot by a foot, maybe a tad smaller. So hopefully these ones will be better.
