I like how you applied the floor over your baseboards. You pay attention to detail and function. Easier to clean that way.

It's not as pretty, but chickens don't care.
that one is amazingWhat breed of chicken is that in the last picture? Or is that the coop/run inspector?
Great space and build Mike, it will last through a generation or more of chicken owners in your family.
I haven't made an effort to train my 2 dogs. They don't bark at my hens or chase them up and down the run. I have seen 1 of my dogs snatch a wild bird and devour it in 2 bites. The other one the previous owners allowed to go feral and was know for killing sheep, thus us rescuing it from a shelter. They were given the option, up for adoption or having it put down. When that kinda thing is allowed it's kinda hard to retrain and break the habit. I just make sure the chickens and dogs don't get a chance to mingle. Everybody has different circumstances.I love my dogs and my hens, I just know for me and my circumstances it's best not to let them mingle.
Very true!! The next question is whether to put it in the nest boxes or not. I think we should but dad thinks it won't make a difference in cleaning because of this lip. I think it will at least protect the floor some or be a little easier. We probably will since we have extra.
These are just the 2 outer boxes since the lid was propped up so i couldnt get a pic of the middle one, theres 3, but you can see the lip. I think we should but idk.

KDOGG331 - I'd cover any floor possible. I even primed my floors and caulked any holes and cracks before putting the vinyl floor down. I don't want my floor rotting.
Smart! The issue is only one of making sure the chickens are safe from the dogs whether it be a physical barrier or the dogs having no interest in chasing or eating them. And if the dogs just can't manage to restrain themselves from chasing chickens that are in a separate area they can see, a visual barrier as well.
If the chickens are pooping in the nest boxes you have other issues. The bottom of mine are all plain plywood and there is about 6" of pine shavings in them. Nothing ever gets close to the floor and my hens do not sleep or poop in the nests.
