post your chicken coop pictures here!

Now I understand. Thank you very much.
I have been reading up on many peoples posting. I do not have any chicken yet and my coop plan is still on the drawing board but I am as hooked on keeping chickens like everyone here. This is so addicting even before having any chicken. Hopefully next spring!! One day....
I researched and read threads on this forum for years before I was finally in a place/situation where I could have chickens. Now, I'm going into the second year of my breeding program.

Even though it says louvered, they dont open and close. They are always open.

I can upsize to the 6 inch no problem. I just wasnt sure about the cold in the winter.

Thanks!

Cold isn't nearly as big an issue for chickens. As long as the coop is dry, the birds are out of the wind, and there is plenty of ventilation, they do just fine in very cold temps.

Heres a few pictures of my coop. It's not finished yet, I'll put more up when it is.

I am considering adding these for ventilation to my small coop (3 hens). One on each side near the top. Thoughts?

I would consider those more 'decorative' than functional in this application where you have to be concerned about predators gaining access... They are just 'press fit' meaning a raccoon or other predator could simply pop them out, and even if you did mount them better they are flimsy and a raccoon again could tear it apart to gain access... Of course location will dictate how easy the critter can gain entry to a hole covered with those vents but I do want to issue the warning of their drawbacks... For a lot cheaper you can simply drill the hole or cut out a shape and on the inside of the coop place some 1/4" hardware cloth screwed down with batten strips over the opening... And if you really want you can trim down and glue those vents in place from the outside for 'decoration' but do note I suspect you might find they get clogged with chicken dust pretty quickly... Even the 1/2" hardware mesh on my windows starts to collect a noticeable degree of dust after a few weeks that starts to inhibit air flow...

Thanks for the input. I will work something else out with this.
