still need to do the 3/4" by 4" and 6" vertical boards to look more like a barn but getting there. :)

Left fencing loose intentionally so if some thing does try and climb it ,, it will make it that much harder plus it is 5" below ground level too.

nice work. . Where did you get that window? Or did you make something to fit

Here's our design which was meant to house 5 hens but my faverolles kept getting beaten up by my buff sussex's so they all live separate happy little lives :)

The big window is actually a side window for a front door that has the 1 1/2"-2" flange all the way around it, it is a windgaurd plastic type, cut out the hole an extra 1/2 inch for adjustments due to possible eye leveling and bubble leveling and then so it looks good too LOLOLOL,,, there is no framing for this other than 1/2 plywood cut out and screwed in and a bunch of sealer then tar paper around it, our daughter helped paint it first though, just wanted to give it some wood protection under it all.
Bought the window at a whole sale window lot about 75 miles or so away on a drive for some other things, cost about $45.00 each, I still need to put the other one in on the other side, the coop is 8' x 8' so we got 7' x 12" windows,,, the one thing that I did do to the window that I think was kinda important was that because they were designed to go up and down and not on side, I drilled a a couple small holes in the plastic on the lower edge so water could run out, on the windows there are water drains for the bottom edge but they are on the sides now.
Here is a pic from inside, the screws , you can see the one side with out the window and the side I did put it into, the 2x4's only lined up on one edge but it wasn't designed specifically for the windows, I figured I would go past the window place (whole seller)and just get what ever fit best or closes with out breaking the bank.

The framing of the coop was designed around like a cars body being part of the framing so that's why there isn't 2x4's every 24" or so.
Just looked at the roost, it is not crooked , it is all level 2x2's, the camera's lens picture taking made it look all warped and as such.

Nice coops, everyone! I'm so jealous - can't wait for Spring to arrive so we can start our build...but alas...we are getting more snow! UGH!! Thankfully the chicks don't arrive until May - surely, spring HAS to have happened by then??
