So very sorry TJ! You have had the WORST problem with coops the last year or two! It wouldn't have happened to me because I won't buy particle/flake board in any form for any purpose and you now know ONE reason why.
A tight budget doesn't allow for a store bought one. We are using salvaged wood for the frame and just buying the plywood. Wish I could get one of those tuff barnsSo sorry about the build! You all worked very hard! I got so tired of protecting a little OSB flake board coop with tarps and canopies over it that we saved and invested in a tall sturdy easy-to-assemble (or disassemble) Chicken Condos Barn Coop -- they now have an all-plastic Urban Coop that's weather-resistant and easy to clean too -- altho I would add more ventilation to that one. Lots of neat options to customize. We got the wheel pkg and moved our barn coop all around the yard during house/yard remodeling and eventually built a covered patio over it. Hope you find a solution soon. I once looked into TuffShed's only available chicken coop because they will assemble it on the property but it had OSB walls and wasn't mobile and we needed to move our coop around the yard. http://www.chickencondos.com/![]()

Haven't heard from you in a while Good luck
Like 6' will make a difference.
When it comes to a free chicken buffet, walking 6' more isn't going to deter any coon or for that matter any hungry predator in reality... The only real thing moving it away from a 'forest line' is that it could make it more visible for you to see the attack if you happen to be watching, and give some animals a minor delay due to lose of cover on approach, but they will soon get over that fear and approach regardless...
Coons in most areas are quite urbanized, and almost all 'scare' or 'inconvenience' tactics to deter them will fail...
I know some people insist things like motion lights help, well just last week a pair of coons was going in and out of my garage tripping the garage door light, the light going on and off didn't phase them one bit they just carried on as if nothing changed...
My roosters start crowing and by proxy my hens start stirring between 2am and 3am just waiting for enough light to get going for the day and honestly it's perfectly normal for chickens to be awake and ready to go 2-3 hours before sunrise... Same with many wild birds in my area, about 3am the songs start coming from the trees...
