post your chicken coop pictures here!

Oh ya I have the hardware cloth, I had to special order it to get 48" by 100'. A nearby hardware store can special order more if I run out. I'm putting 1/2" x 1/2" hardware cloth on the top vent area (and eventually some how replacing the window screen with it too) Also, access under the coop will be blocked. Been there done that! :p

As for the door I'm not concerned with size, hubby is going to convert a garage door opener. something like this:https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/659730/automatic-garage-door-chicken-door/30
Perks of marrying into a family that owns a garage door company...

We are not doing the hot wire at this time unfortunately. Non of the out buildings here have electricity.
It is legal to hunt Coyote in WA state year around with a large or small game license. But I will have to confirm this but I think we live in a No Hunting zone. Tons of wildlife here! Just got done watching the heard of (19 I counted tonight) Elk bugle, young spikes spar, and the big bull chase a couple ladies around. We love it here so far! I just need to make sure my chickens are safe and can love it too. We don't have a gun so I am going for predator prevention. If something does happen we have family, and good neighbors that would loan us one as my husband has his large game hunting license.

Ok. Be safe. I would love to live where the wild game roam.

That is a nice roomy well ventilated coop - very nice!  I had two stray dogs break our chainlink gate to attack our first coop that had 1-inch poultry chicken wire and it was mangled badly beyond repair and the dogs would've got to my chickens through the wire if not for a good Samaritan neighbor that chased off the mutts.  I suggest heavy cattle wire fencing or hardware cloth wire along at least the bottom of the chicken wire.  Raccoons can easily tear the chicken wire - and 'coons usually kill chickens for the sake of killing and not for food.
no worries I have electric wire around just didn't get a pic of it more pics this weekend with updates hopefully

I took this picture just prior to completion. 8x20 total, with the first 4x8 being secure storage, and the second 4x8 the coop itself. When I took this picture I still needed to do some paint and trim, plus a ramp out to the run.

This is the girls first full day out of their new coop and in to the covered run. The build was strenuous, but the chickens have been so much fun, it was worth it.

That is an awesome coop/run! I am under going my own build and can attest, it is always more work then previously thought, but the reward far out ways the hard work! Heck I'd even live in that! Kudos!

nice job on the coop and run. is that pine shavings on the floor of the run?

Hi all! I just joined BYC today.

This is our coop. It was quite a family project but most of the credit goes to my husband

It's 8'x10'. We only have 6 girls, so 1/2 of the coop is storage for all their supplies.

Much of our building supplies, along with the placement, are from our former pool/pool deck which we tore down this spring. We still had to purchase a good deal, but it sure helped keep the cost down.

Um, a garage door opener? Isn't that just a BIT of overkill? I've seen people do it with a power car antenna.

I'm sure you will find people here as enormously helpful as I have.

Build looks solid. Not seeing a lot of permanent ventilation which is quite important.

Thanks!

You can't really see it here, but there is ventilation under the soffits. Enough to vent, but not too much for our cold winters. :) The windows all prop open for warmer months.
