post your chicken coop pictures here!

tish_matt - NICE coup. It's the most sophisticated hoop run I've seen. It looks to me like the lower poles are heavier/thicker than the top poles. I wonder how it's all put together? It looks very sturdy. Comfortable for the human and chickens, and l'd bet it will look good and last a long time. And I got such a chuckle out of "excuse my dogs butt"!

The coop is finally done and were ready for our first chickens!! I took a 52'' x 6' section of our shed and turned it into our coop. Our first chicks(6) are scheduled to arrive around March 13th.

I used left over kennels to make a 12' x 6' chicken run with a 9''x11'' doggie door leading into the coop area. The nest box is on the outside to make it simple for the grandkids to reach the eggs. Our pot belly pig Elmer thinks the coop is his new pad,,silly pig..

I'm hoping this water set up works good as the cicks get older, I have it connected to a 40 gallon barrel.

I'm sure its too low for adult chickens, but were starting out with 2 day old chicks. I'll move it higher as they grow. Any suggestions are welcome, I grew up on a farm in Iowa but as a kid I wasn't real interested in chickens(imagine that), so all of my chicken info. has come from BYC.

Here are a few pics of the coop that we started in the spring. Size is 10'x24' We are hopeful that we will be able to complete it this spring, but for now it is a work in progress. Plans are to run underground power and water to it once the weather is nicer. It has two rooms. The entry room is a feed storage area and will eventually have a sink and will have our temporary brooder in it this spring. Walls and ceiling are insulated and the flooring is the plastic wood deck boards.

You can barely see our automated chicken door on the left. This opens into a 25'x50' run. On hind sight, we should have used 5 foot instead of 4 foot fencing though.

The automatic chicken door on the timer works great.

This is the south side of the coop. Upper windows provide great natural light and ventilation

This is the coop side. We used an insulated garage door to make it easy to clean out the coop.

The hoop is the frame of a portable garage. The last owners stored their snowmobiles in it, now the chickens enjoy it :)
