Any one else ever want to just shake your head in bewilderment over building a coop?... My husband has been more indecisive on the building of this bigger coop than he was in deciding to get chickens in the first place!!! First it was 'let's do a 8'x8' coop,' then it was 'how about a two story A-frame 4'x8' ', now he's just had his brother dump a load of recycled and scrap 2'x6.5' plywood (some bigger /smaller) on my porch and uttered the now well-known phrase "this weekend " about the coop... I'm about to "this weekend" him and break out the supplies and do it myself... Injured foot or no injured foot....

Can I get an AMEN !!!

you are in the same situation as I am.......except my dh did not want the chickens to begin with.........but a friend of ours said he would love to build me one and had some old lumber from an old shed he tore down so the lumber was free! Can't beat that can you.....except that was back around the first of March!

He did get the framework up but......I kept believing him when he would stand there in church and say...I ought to be able to finish the coop this week!

long Long story short....I'm still working on it but have residential pullets and will begin the run tomorrow....on my own! Have left it till last because I'm dreading pulling the wire and framing it.. I want it predator proof! But although I'm 65 and pretty much physically disabled...I'm getting there! They can stick it in their ear or where ever....I'm finishing it!

You go, girlfriend! I had the SAME thing happen to me. One of my co-workers said "sure, I'll help you build your coop/run" .... yeah, right. He came over a few times, got as far as the coop up and the posts in the ground for the run, and that was IT. Like you, he kept saying "I'll be over tomorrow" and tomorrow never came. I've got you beat by 5 years in age, and by gosh I finished that sucker myself! I have never been so pooped in all my life! Best of luck to you....get 'er done!!

Outstanding!!!! I'm in the same position with no help. I have to hire help and they are not reliable. I have started buying tools to do things myself. My first project is a 5 gallon feeder with the pvc elbow. Got the tools, got the bucket. and tomorrow I'm going to get the elbow.

Thank God I'm not alone!!!! He just dumps plywood scraps on the porch and say figure out something... My husband said he wanted to see how my problem solving and utilization of recycled wood could make a coop big enough... Took a hour just to inventory the pieces... Another 3 scratching my head on how NOT to need at least 1 more sheet of wood.. I solved it!!!! I'll make a draft and post it lol.. All he needs to get is the 2x4s lol...

Oh....IT "WILL" GET DONE !! LOL... here's it so far.......Got the sand in the coop today...! My dh said it was going to be the death of me....but he didn't offer to help!!!

Bet he won't like it... But to bad... I'll have fold down vents on the sides and screening over the bird door to leave open in hot weather... So ok guys... How's this one look.. Keep in mind it's mostly patchwork pieces but that's what I had to work with lol...
