post your chicken coop pictures here!

Can anyone tell me how to get chickens to use ramp to a run?

We kept putting scratch feed up and down the ramp and finally after about 4 days they were hopping up and down via the ramp...
Another good idea... Take a head of cabbage, quarter it at the head and hang it from the door or just into the coop and DONT pick them up until after dusk... They might just start going in themselves to get that hanging treat...

I just could not physically bury my wire when it needed to be done...I'm about give out of my last barrel of energy so this has got to wind up soon.

I have been buying these blocks 10 at a time. probably need about 40 more to complete the perimeter. Do you think this will be enough to deter diggers? I have the blocks completely around the base of the coop and this far up the front gate-side, then the 2nd pict is how far up the back side (on the tree line)... Still working on the inside of run.

After I get the girls out in the run, I will work on the inside of the coop. Maybe cooler temps will prevail by then! Yes, I'm dreaming..

Well done! When you have all your blocks in place, you could start covering the exposed apron with bagged soil and sprinkling it with grass seed and/or mulch so it would still be buried without having to dig.

I need to do this myself.... Biggest problem for me is the range pin butts up to two other properties so I need to figure out an alternative to the skirt on those sides... I've placed boards along those sides right now because my birds tried to craw UNDER the fence lol... :cd
Head under fence and a big dog looking at her thinking ... 'Chicken pot pie!!!' Lol

We repurposed an old camp trailer for our chicken coop. This was early in the project. Getting further along We have pullets in the pen now. And a roost. The floor is several layers of cardboard with shredded paper until we can get sawdust. It has a way to go until it's completely done, but it will be a fancy and secure home for the ladies. We don't have a lot of wildlife around, mostly dogs with a few possums, feral cats and such. We have five chihuahuas and a watch cat that keep the critters out of our yard--mostly. The cat sleeps all day near the chickens. When I had a few chicks escape, she helped me find the little rascals, but made no attempt to hurt any of them. I raised them all in my living room. and the dogs and cat got used to having them around. More pictures later as we get things better. mindwing.
What a very creative job. Nice!!

I believe that you will be fine to let your girls out into the run at this point, even without the block work finished. They would only be out there during daylight hours and safely tucked away back in the coop during dangerous dark time. I'm pretty sure what you've done to this point will work just fine. Since you couldn't bury the hardware cloth, the blocks will prevent a predator from hooking the wire with their claws and pulling it away from the run "wall." You can continue to finish the block work over time. You're almost done (or are we ever really done?)! Way to go!

No need to bury it. I have my coop on a solid clay rock base and no way to dig. Just put a little dirt on top or rocks. Anything. Kudos on the job.

JT, morning..... Think about closing up the gaps in the blocks.... That would "maybe' stop predators from finding a place to start digging easily.... They are pretty smart...

Yea, I just spread them out a little this am to cover the area up to the door. My plans are to have them in a solid row....EVERYWHERE!

Since I wasn't present when the flooring was set/foundation...I wanted a solid covering around my coop first. That's done.. My concern in the mean time is covering the top of the run since we have hawks that frequent our air space a lot. Hope to get it more complete today and then the first of the week.
