post your chicken coop pictures here!

:he Had some visitors last night. They made a mess but all of my ladies are ok. Had to have been a dog of some sort...take a look and see if you see anything you recognize. That feed bucket that's turned over was empty already. They did not get into any of my feed, etc. Broke my two landscape:mad: lights.
I knew that when I saw my moms dog had broke her chain, that seeing all my birds un harmed was too good to be true... dang im so sorry, ill pay for the damage LMBO (im very glad that whatever it was left your birds alone! When my mom destroied my flock a few times before getting it dog proof, had upset me terribly. The last time i was in so much fear, i actually screamed and cried for my mom. My mom had to hold me. That is untill she saw a bird running and chaised it down hollering at our dogs. Sadly i was so shocked that i stood there shaking and crying. I had to have my mom stay up wi th me till I fell asleep. I was so scared. Took me about a month to beable to go to sleep easily again. The thing was it was late at night or early morning. Pitch black. All I saw was feeders n waterers going everywhere and heard screaching screams. Shined the light and I saw this HUGE dog. Turned out it was my moms german shephared. She looked toward the light and her eyes were huge and blood red, from the light I guess, and my mom and I both saw th e devil in her. That was the first time I saw the devil and I was petrified. Everyone was like no she was just in the mode.. no you had to have been there to see it. Then after fighting my moms dog out, yes fighting her out. I shined the light and I saw all feathers and a chicken or two and I screamed and thats when it started. In the morning all of my birds were dead, necked broken, viciously killed. Turns out only 4 chickens survived. All of my moms birds. I was just glad some survived. ) so sorry for the long rant. Once again, very glad your birds are ok :)

Look everybody... I had a visitor this morning myself... Went to open the gate and didn't even see it until I PUT MY HAND ON IT!!!! :barnie
I let out a little squeak and then snapped this picture. I wanted to keep him but my husband said no lol... So I picked him up off the gate and took him away... No I did not kill him... Just a rat snake... But I still don't want him near my birds...

ive experianced 2 snakes myself. One being very small and one being medium sized. One was killed by lawnmower so gave it to the birds other got scared and ran off.

Thought I would share photos of my new coop! I looked on Craigslists for about 6 months (probably longer) trying to find a new coop or even a new one that I liked that would fit in the space we had and finally (on Craigslist) I came across a gentleman who built it for me (at a very reasonable price) in hind site I still wish it were a little wider but I am very happy with my little coop! It houses my 3 hens, 1 silkie, 1 rooster and 4 young Orpingtons. We recently added a window box and an automatic chicken door opener! Saw the idea for the indoor feeder here on Backyard Chickens!

This photo is of my new automatic door.

So sorry for your loss .

... I went thru that about 6wks ago.. had raised chicks from March...had finally moved them to kennels, staked down, with pallets on top of them, and tarped. Waiting impatiently for my coop to be finished! (had been promised it would be finished by the end of April) The man knew I was ordering chicks...(first time I paid $$ for my chicks!)....Then he quit coming at all..

Then one Saturday am...found something had gotten everyone of the chickens except 1 EE pullet and 2 BCM roos! out of 11...!! I'm 65 yrs old and I cried for 3 days...so I understand your feelings of loss. We figure it was coyotes since it had to be of the dog variety and more than one. There were feathers but absolutely no body parts anywhere.. the pallets on the tops were still there! they bent the panels, and pulled a 40lb bale of peat moss away from the back of a kennel. It was good size and more than one. Since the man who promised the coop quit showing up, I had to finish the coop. I'm disabled with a balance problem so I'm sure it could have won some $$ if someone had been filming it!

BUT if have put on a roof, made a people door, a pop door, put in a window and wired almost all the areas where a snake might thru. I've just begun my run..LOL..got one hole dug yesterday...having to rest today..will do another one tomorrow, then quickcrete those 2. So hang in there, better times are to come. Just really glad I was so OCD about both of my coops.
