post your chicken coop pictures here!

Mine sunbathe. I walked out one day to half a dozen laying around after a night of reading horror stories on predators killing flocks! Yes, they were upset I interrupted. I knew they sunbathed but it was just the wrong morning for everyone sunbathing.

LOL- they do one side, turn and do the other. One will even do both sides then move so her head is in the shade and continue working on her tan.

Lol... Mine like to roll over and over... Two of them will throw dirt over each other taking turns....

I love seeing Seniors getting all that chicken construction exercise! I use my garden for extra exercise or my bones get arthritic! You have a nice setup going there.
thank you, we like it an yes the bones work when they want to, my dh had cancer and can not stay in the sun so he works in the early morning and in the evening no work after 11 am till about 4pm. but he is ok and can do things when he has to we still do a lot, have 3 acres and I cut half he cuts other part, we both feed chickens and water, he has never cleaned out the coops I do that, he said they are my chickens. limwc

Wow good price. I've looked everywhere on Walmart.com and the only 3' tall I could find is $56 for 50'. Can you get me more info or item #? Thanks
I just checked my "Previous Orders" page and apparently this item is out of stock right now...here's the link to the actual page:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gilbert-a...-2-in-Mesh-Galvanized-Hardware-Cloth/21193113

My first thought is that they're not going to carry the 100' rolls anymore (??), dunno...just thinkin' .. sorry I couldn't be more help!

thank you for your response. I will make some improvements this weekend to my girls home. I want something simple and practical. I agree with the wire. That green plastic is a joke and I'm very upset.that stuff will be the first to go. So your saying my coop should be bigger? Taller and wider? I need to do some major homework. I want to get it right for my girls sake.

Thanks so much for following up. That shows the increase in price since you ordered. I can get 2 of the 50' rolls. Pricey but 3' instead of 2' so win-win
Edited: Ordered one at $59. plus tax and free shipping.

Thanks... I've been reading and researching the whole DE issue this week... Food grade DE is safe to use around pets and livestock....

Well, DE is DE whether it's in pure white, yellow, or low-grade equine gray form. The pure white just means the clay content and other particles have been extracted but sharp shards of the DE are microscopic and the sharp ends well, what do you suppose those sharp ends lodge themselves into - your intestines, your eyeballs, your lungs. DE is really an unnecessary expense and there are just too many warnings about it to be used safely around living beings yet doesn't do a thing to deter lice - my friend has been using it for her flock since I gave her my unopened 10# bag of pure white food grade DE and says its useless. I gave her a bottle of OMRI organic Poultry Protector and her lice/mite problem cleared up in less than a week. On the BYC Silkie thread it is fast becoming a common warning not to use DE around pets/chickens.

Tonight was the first night I didn't have to chase down, pick up and put my birds in the coop for the night!!!! We were late getting home from the store today and it was dark... Went to get the birds and... They were all hunkered down in the coop... Can't wait to build that bigger coop.. It will be short so I can clean it safely but still have a solid 4x8 floor plan... Going to have a place for the feed and water set up where they can get it but can't poop in it... Also added another covered area for protection by converting the old plastic truck bed liner... I'll post a picture tomorrow...

Awww - you're getting like us - we're always checking the girls before we leave, when we come home, and during the night when we're on a kitchen snack raid!! They will find the most secure place to roost for the night and usually that's their coop that's mostly enclosed. The wind blew our coop door shut one evening and we found all the girls nestled together inside one large doghouse.

Totally agree with you @Sylvester017 on the DE. I, too, have OMRI Organic Poultry Protector (in the spray bottle) and that's what I'll be using!!
