Men ... go figure ....I'm learning to just deal with procrastinating man.... I told him about the poultry wire not being safe and what did he say... 'When you get cash to get hardware cloth... I'll change it.'

Do you have enough poultry wire to put two layers until you can get your hardware wire? Anything to make it more difficult.! Are they closed up at night?
WELL DANG!!!I will be able to double the wire on the new coop yes... For now they are put up at night with a solid door and metal vent covers over the air flow vents...
My biggest problem is the current coop is WAY to small for anything other than night and the open yard is not critter proof... My dog, thankfully nice to the birds, has dug holes. My hens have dug dust bath holes and we have no cover from airial attacks other than the shade/safety areas I've made out of wood and recycled items...
I had some people say the slanted nesting boxes wouldn't work and I was disappointed to hear that. I am happy to report the slanted boxes work beautifully and the eggs roll back out of the nest and away from the chickens which is good because they have four nest boxes and only use one sometimes two hens at a time.
Where did my eggs go?
I did move the dowel out farther from the boxes. and now that they are older the ramp is gone as well.
The chicken Run is finished and the Chicken Fountain provides fresh clean water all day with no human intervention. (I check it regularly though) The Automatic chicken door opens and closes flawlessly each morning and night. And as you can see they also have a swing and a roost in the covered run.
and finally I built a brooder area on the man side of the coop behind and below the back of the nesting boxes. The established chickens can see and get used to the new little ones hopefully easing the transition into the main coop and run. If not then maybe another chicken door and run off the other side and and a split flock.
Its been great and the proof is on the plate

we have made a place in our camper for peeps only, it worked great and we also made a run off the ground from the spot for peeps they loved it run was not real big but they got use to fresh air, the older chickens never went after them, when they got older we took the wall down, we kept it so if we have to reuse it we can,First that last picture makes me hungry!! It looks so delicious! Second - the idea of slanted boxes....that's AWESOME. what a great idea. I worry mine are going to peck the eggs etc. Great idea. Glad its working!
So the big dummy Auburn fan thinks he can afford to feed the neighborhood raccoon's?? Once they figure out where those meat birds are at, they're going to be all over them like flies on a turd. and chicken wire ain't going to stop them, even with double layers.I'm learning to just deal with procrastinating man....
