Nothing so existing as finding that first egg... And if you have kids letting them find a few...

Mine had started laying for about a week when I got these pictures of my sons first find.....

We got our first eggs this past week. Perfect little eggs. We were so excited! (store bought on the right for comparison).

We know the white one came from our Leghorn, she's the only white-egg chicken we have. We aren't sure who laid the others.. and not sure how we'll be able to tell if we don't see them happen. Not sure yet how much variation in color and size we'll have in those, to be able to tell. We have 5 brown egg hens. I guess it doesn't matter! :)

Nice eggs... :highfive: do you plan to hatch any? :jumpy we have a very fertile roo so we are thinking of hatching some next spring...

No plans to hatch any yet... but maybe some day!   Can I keep them warm enough in my pocket? :)

Unfortunately no... You have to have the temp and humidity right, rotate them 3 times a day for the first 18, then keep the temp/humidity right the final 3.... That's 21 days of an egg in a pocket... Chances are... Very smelly, messy outcome...
:sick

Trying to decide what color to paint it.
Question, do mist of you use vents or Windows for ventilation. I will have a total of 3 Windows but wondering if j would need additional ventilation
