Insulation is supposed to slow down changes in heat, and deal with drafts, while ventilation is something that supplies the coop with fresh air. Everyone needs to decide on their own if they wish to go through with the hassle of installing insulation, and it's a good idea to study some building codes before doing that so that you don't create a place for rodents and mold to thrive in your walls, but I have a hard time understanding it when people claim that an insulated coop would somehow be harmful to the chickens.
