Winter update:









It's corrugated plastic, hopefully it will keep the snow away.

Very well built, but I have one question....whereabouts do you live? I see that you have used 2" x 4" welded wire fencing, aproned all around. But if you have predators you may run into problems...JMHO

Do you ever encounter having to fish eggs or chickens out from under the coops? I love the bang-up job your DH did on the construction! To discourage our hens from hanging out in the coop all day we set out a couple large doghouses, a popup canopy, a headboard and footboard on cinderblocks, some rose bushes, an old wheelbarrow with a potted rosemary plant, for hiding/snoozing shelters during midday when hens seem to nap - that way we don't get any surprise eggs layed on the coop floor..

no we have never had anyone lay eggs outside (yet) you never know what they are going to do. we both did the work on building coops, we tour apart camper took about 2 weeks as he did but new floor down, anything above my knees I help with but I can not get down so lay things are out of the ? I did paint both of them

we are in NW Ohio.
The local guys told me that the skunks, groundhogs, and possums are kept out by this wire.

I had one lay under the coop all the time...

At least my kids had fun getting them...
