That's looks great Vehve.  How did you attach it? 

I just went with predrilled holes, and screws and washers.

no we have never had anyone lay eggs outside (yet) you never know what they are going to do. we both did the work on building coops, we tour apart camper took about 2 weeks as he did but new floor down, anything above my knees I help with but I can not get down so lay things are out of the ? I did paint both of them

Yes, chickens are quite unpredictable but your girls seem to like their Cadillac setup.
A duo project - hence the scriptural meaning of "help meet" is why you have a lovely setup.
I can't get down on my knees either unless my DH or a cane can help me back up again!!! Scoliosis is a bi*ch! If I work on ground level it has to be bending down from a sitting position on a chair otherwise those old knees and back of mine won't get me back up again

My Coop

We had the advantage of an existing structure in the form of an old goat pen. The first thing we did was line the floor with 1" hardware cloth and tack it to the sides. This may sound excessive, but it seemed more logical than digging a 12" trench around the whole pen to bury the mesh. We added 6" of topsoil over the mesh. It has thwarted several tunneling attempts.

There was old chicken wire wrapping 3 sides of the pen that I had to take down. We replaced it with 1/4" hardware cloth.

This is the henhouse. We designed a 4'x8' plywood box with vents, windows, laying boxes, and access doors. It is on it's side waiting for the bottom sheet to be attached. It is resting on a simple raised redwood foundation.

Brought in the chicks! They were ready.

The ladder is a drawbridge we can raise from outside. This gives the chickens 2 layers of protection from predators. It was nice when we had a rooster and could keep his early crowing muffled. We stopped raising it when we increased the flock and most of the new birds chose to sleep on top of the henhouse.

I recently flipped the coop, expanded the run and rechickened.
The paint was weathering and the yellow was getting old.

I agree! Especially when you live next to a state park and have to deal with foxes, hawks, weasels, raccoons, coyotes, and we've even seen mountain lions! Not to mention the neighbor's dog :/
