post your chicken coop pictures here!

Thank you very much for your thoughtful response. . I like your idea of having them on a pad, but would like if they could have a run to peck the ground and what-not. I am going to plant a wall of Amaranth to keep them shaded and busy and probably will have builders cloth over the whole enclosure. I LOVE the idea of a run -Chunnel as a fence for the garden - we have raccoons, snakes, cats, dogs, Hawks, Falcons, rats probably too! I definitely won't let them in the chicken wire areas unless I'm out with them! So many ideas! right now I need to build a warm area for the chicks. I can't find any half grown so ya.... $4.50 each! I already figured out the meat & eggs we get won't pay us back very soon. Lol But I khow to ferment the feed & what materials to use in the pen- how to build a nipple feeder for water and how to keep it from freezing in the winter. And I know I want 5 chickens to begin with and we will cull two for eating, keeping 3 for layers. I'm concerned about vaccinations and am wondering if we need to deworming yearly. So sorry wow that's a lot. I'm going to have to return to the learning section once again! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my excitement.

where are you located? I have some 5-6 week old babies that you could have if you're near central PA.

Here's mine! The space around the top has hardware cloth, and we just covered it with plastic for the winter. Dimensions for the entire thing are 16' x 32'.

Hi im new to the site. Doing my homework before i get mine.
I love youre coop! The hubby is a welder and my cooop will be metal also pipe instead of wood.... but
i was wondering if you give ur chickens a heat lamp in winter? Im from tx so we dnt have bad winters.

I have 22 chicks. I will be giving away 8 or so to friends & relatives. Showing food & water was easy! I took their familiar containers to coop. We had also partioned off the coop to make it smaller. I was actually worried about getting them back in, but the opposite was true! It was hard to get them out! They ran back in as fast as we put them out! I finally had to close the door to keep them out! We left them out all day & as dusk approached, we opened the door & in they came!

Wow!! You guys have some great coops!!!! So many good ideas! We are going to get started next weekend. I live in Arkansas so we do have a lot of predators here in the country, coyotes, opossum, raccoons, wild dogs etc. I started at the beginning of this thread, nowhere near through the whole thing! we need runs for bantams. We let each kid pick a breed and then the hubby and I had to pick a couple. So they all Need to be separate. I have a building to get started. It's not cute but solid. Will probably be used to store feed and build separate pens and runs off each end.
