Very nice and playful coop. hope the whimsy part leave you enough room. There is never enough room. you build one coop then 3 months later wish it was bigger! Yes, I been there and done that.
There is much more room than it looks! Perfect for my small flock.
Looks like something out of a Doctor Seuss book.
Thats why I want tunnel nests.... One big box big enough for several hens to hunker down in there.... one opening and a slot in the back to roll the eggs out.... I am tired of squished eggs hidden eggs and eaten eggs

Mine was a prefab, 5x8, and I put the run together myself, 8x12. I've never done any wood work like this before and there's still some work to be done. I'll be adding hardware cloth soon over top the chicken wire, but the hens get locked up at night so they are safe. When we get the chain link fence extended in the future I'll be adding to the run behind the coop. Inside picture just showing the paint before putting the gang in. I had the nest boxes painted a dark brown cause I read the girls like their nest area dark. Thanks for looking!

That is a very good prefab coop! Reminds me of some of the high priced Amish built board and batten ones I've seen. They are nice, but rather expensive! Since you're going to take out the upper roost, you might also consider replacing the one that's going to stay with a 2x4 on the flat (4" side up) as it will be much easier on the birds feet. I would also consider running a 2x4 or 1x4 or even a 1x6 on edge along the foot of the nest boxes to keep them from scratching the litter into them. I'm sure your birds will be quite comfy in there! there's a real decent amount of ventilation as well (not common on prefabs). Nice work on the run as well!Mine was a prefab, 5x8, and I put the run together myself, 8x12. I've never done any wood work like this before and there's still some work to be done. Yea I know exactly what you're talking about, and the 4x8 Leonard brand coops that are this style started at $999 and that didn't include delivery (I spent $800 on this prefab including delivery, from a local on Craigslist). I'm sure I could have built it for cheap, but it was a nice splurge after selling our first home lol. That is a very good prefab coop!
