So I saw this coop idea on Facebook. I showed my 18 year old (picture on right) and he said "NO"

But there is plenty of room "NO"
The laying boxes can be in the trunk to make it easy to get the eggs "NO"
We can put a ramp/tunnel going from the run up to the window so they can go outside "NO"

Then as I'm headed to bed... Are you sure? "YES"
Oh so I can build that coop. .....silence..... but I swear I felt a death stare through the door. LOL

Wouldn't his '62 Dodge Lancer make a great coop??

My coop is a pole construction with a concrete slab poured inside (4"). The grade comes part way up the 2x8 bottom nailer so the ramp is hinged to the top of the nailer and thus only a few inches off the ground. Grade in the run is a little higher than it was in front so ramp is flatter.

Im integrating them today so ill get some new pictures. My end sheet metal is here so ill also put that up today and my project is almost done :) All i need yet is a sliding barn door for the run for maintenence chores. I might pick up the track for that today too.

Is the ramp also the chicken door??? Even a week old chick doesn't need a ramp for that height.
 
I had to get my three Golden Comets and five Black Stars out of my house! Chick dust everywhere. So I put the Juvie coop together without any real plan. I knew I wanted vinyl flooring to pull out and clean, suspended cooler with waterer nipples, hanging heat lamp and pvc feeder. It came together fairly easily. The girls are four weeks and five weeks old. They will stay in there till they get closer to the same size as my existing flock. Until then, they will have to verbally and visually figure out peaking order. Only thing I need to add are some slats/stairs for them to get in and out. The coop is four foot by five foot. Lastly, a word of warning, if you've never used corrugated sheet metal, the stuff will cut you by just looking at it.
