Just completed (ok... late spring/early summer..), my chicken coop and run... Here's a video of it as I felt just posting pics wouldn't answer some questions from some of you. I welcome any feedback and comments!!

love the feed and water solution inside the coop.... Not a nipple fan but an excellent application.

yes, I move my broodies in here and don't move them out until the chicks are ready to join the main flock. The roof opens (for food/ water/ nest access) and the end panel opens (for free ranging options) . Very easy to make and all measurements add up to 8', so efficient use of materials (2'tall x 3'wide x 7.5'long with 6"for handles on one side and 6"on bottom sticking out of coop side for wheels, which I have not yet added) . I have 2 of them, and made the first out of 2x4's, but made this one or of 2x3's to keep it lighter. Very easy to move and my grass loves the natural fertilizer.

It's been steady between 95-100oF all week so we finally gave in and put in the coop's mesh floor tray option for more ventilation. If it wasn't for the broody Silkie spending most of the hot day in her empty nestbox we wouldn't bother with the kennel wire floor. The chickens don't use the coop except to lay eggs or roost for the night.

WITH THE POP-DOOR CLOSED AT NIGHT THERE'S PLENTY OF AIR CIRCULATING ON OUR HOT NIGHTS! IN WINTER THE WIRE FLOOR WILL BE SWAPPED OUT FOR THE SOLID TRAY FLOOR.


BARN COOP IS LOCATED ON A SLAB FLOOR WITH PATIO ROOF OVER IT FOR SHADE FROM THE SUN AND TO KEEP DRY IN RAIN WHEN WE COLLECT EGGS - IT'S JUST A FEW STEPS FROM OUR SLIDING KITCHEN DOOR AND LOCATED RIGHT NEXT TO THE GARAGE DOOR


THERE ARE A COUPLE FEATURES I DON'T CARE FOR IN THIS COOP BUT THE MAJORITY OF FEATURES ARE REALLY NIFTY AND TIME-SAVING. K-9 KENNELS MADE OUR CHICKEN CONDOS BARN COOP WITH OPTIONS AND SIZES WE COULD CHOOSE OR CUSTOM MODIFY. RECENTLY THEY ADDED AN ALL-PLASTIC COOP MADE SIMILAR TO THE OMELET EGLU CUBE BUT MUCH BETTER IMO. THE ONLY THING IS THAT THEY HAVEN'T MADE AN EQUIVALENT PLASTIC VERSION IN THEIR BARN COOP YET. OUR BARN COOP IS MADE OUT OF OUTDOOR SHED MATERIAL AND AM LOVING IT AFTER HAVING IT FOR A YEAR-&-A-HALF.

Forgot to post before but the storm only lasted an hour or a bit more, thunder gone rain lasted a bit longer, so back to work now

I threw a birthday party for my Grandmother this weekend.... 100 years old we were all out on the patio giggling and having pizza... 95 degrees out. Thirty people 90 percent were over eighty and one was 94....

people came as far as from Alabama but most from Palm Springs and San Bernardino... Thank goodness for costal breezes and good company

Happy Birthday, Grandmom! She should be getting a letter from the President. I understand you get one on your 100th! My Mom passed at 98 and missed her chance to get a Presidential letter
